Romans 12:2 exhorts us, "and be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..."

So, the question is, "what is this world and how are we transformed?" As we think of this world, most of us think - greed, selfishness, what's in it for me, i.e. exactly as John describes it in 1 John 2:15-16 Lust and Pride! I agree with that because it is Biblical. However pride and lust can be as individual as there are people and as generic (as a culture trait) as germs in a garbage can!

I want to narrow this down to a subject that is near and dear to my heart and that is in the area of a Christian's role in the business world within the Free Enterprise system. You have probably noticed the name of my blog, Called to Send. Basically, Christians in the free world, especially in economically affluent countries such as the United States, should be developing their talents, honing their gifts and abilities, and capitalizing on the abundant opportunities presented almost daily in answer to the question presented in Romans 10:15, "and how shall they preach except they be sent?"

For the most part, Christians have been conditioned to be conformed to the world in several ways. One, if they seek success, they seek it selfishly. This is the main thought of what "worldliness" is.

However, another subtle form of being conformed to the world is "fatalism"! In other words American Christians in particular have accepted the conditioning through public education that we should be "employees" and not business owners! Now I know that not everyone is called to be a business owner, but it wasn't that long ago that the majority of businesses were family owned and operated.

Yes we still see alot of that today, thank God, but fewer and fewer Christians are launching out into entrepreneurial endeavors and just accept jobs that they hate, through which they barely makes ends meet, and then complain because they are stuck in a rut, which is really a grave with both ends knocked out!

So with this blog, my goal is to spur some thought around the subject of what it means to be "called to send". In my next blog I will begin to define what I think it means to be a "sender" and will expound from there as time goes on.

I would like this to be interactive and I welcome comments and feedback, particularly from Christian Entrepreneurs and others who ponder these things!

Hello World! We shall see if we agree...

My goal with this blog is to "stir up your minds" through provocative thoughts on the subjects of Stewardship, Service, and Sending! Romans 12:2 exhorts us not only to "be not conformed to the world", but also to "be transformed by the renewing of our minds". Why, because as Christians we have "something to Prove", i.e. God's good and aceptable, and perfect will!

So, in the weeks to come, I will pontificate and expand on these things and would love to have some feedback and "gentle" debate :) .

As time goes on, I will certainly become more proficient at the art of blogging.
